GENERAL ENTRY DEADLINE: July 13, 2007
Horse Entry Deadline July 9, 2007
HORSES ARRIVAL NO LATER THAN: Monday, July 23, 2007.
RELEASE TIME: Livestock Sunday, July 29 at 6a.m. FFA Horses will be
released 8:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Exhibitors leaving early
will forfeit premiums and action will be taken against the chapter.
Only the head superintendent can excuse FFA members.
GENERAL RULES:
1. Read carefully the General Rules and Regulations in the Open Section of
this Premium Book.
2. All FFA livestock, ag mech., agronomy, classroom entries should be made
out in the exhibitor's and chapter name, and address should be included.
3. Unless the exhibit is considered worthy of a prize by the judge, no
award will be given.
4. All exhibits must belong to members who are in good standing in the
Local Chapter and State Association.
5. Activities of the Fair will proceed on schedule whether entrants are
busy or absent from the area.
6. NO OUT OF COUNTY students will be allowed to participate in the
FFA Department, but are allowed and encouraged to show in Open Class.
7. Animals must be owned by the following minimum days prior to Fair:
Breeding Beef .................................................June 1
Market Beef ....................................................February 1
Market Swine ..................................................June 1
Breeding Swine &Sheep ...................................June 1
Market Sheep ..................................................June 1
Horses ............................................................May 1
Verification must be made. Bill of sale or proof by student, parents
or ag instructor is required.
8. Animals using behavioral modifications and diuretic drugs will be
disqualified from showing and all premiums will be withheld.
9. The decision of the judges will be final.
10. Livestock will be penned by NOON Wednesday, July 25, 2007.
11. In case of no competition, the judge shall decide whether the exhibit
shall be placed in the first, second and third place.
12. There will be separate classes for each breed listed under the
various classes.
13. All Market Steers will be judged by hip height. All Market Steers
weighing 1049 pounds and under will be shown as Feeder Steers.
14. Market Steers will be weighed at the fairgrounds.
15. No animal may be shown in both Market and Breeding Classes.
16. FFA members must be carrying the project(s) and have records
up to date.
17. All cattle exhibitors will be required to use neck ropes at least 1/2
inch in diameter, in addition to halters in the stall.
18. All bulls over yearlings must be shown with nose leads.
19. Heifers must be spayed or proven free martin heifers in order to
show in Market Classes.
20. No market animal will be allowed to nurse 60 days prior to fair.
21. ALL first and second place winners in FFA Department are eligible
to enter in the Open Classes, providing there is already competition
from an Open Class Exhibitor in the class the member wishes
to enter, and provided that if in Open Class there is a Champion
judged, the FFA can bring up Champions and Reserve Champions
only to be judged for Overall Champion. The same animal may not
be entered in more than one department.
22. All livestock must be FITTED. No ribbons or premiums will be
awarded to un fitted animals. All livestock shown in Showmanship
must be fitted by the individual showing and no one else.
23. TIE OUT RULE -If you tie your animal outside the barn, it CANNOT
be tied out until after 8 p.m. and MUST be back in the barn by 9 .m.
24. No more than two entries per lot by any one exhibitor.
25. MURRAYMERE FARMS will award a Herdsmanship Trophy or check
to the chapter doing the best job. (See Herdsmanship Rules)
26. A Showmanship Contest will be held preceding the judging of each
department of the show. Each exhibitor is expected to compete
in the Showmanship Contest. Beef Showmanship will be after the
Market Steer Show and before the Breeding Beef Show.
27. Round Robin Competition is limited to the top two showmanship
places of each section. Round Robin Competition will be a YOUTH
Show, 4-H and FFA together.
28. Stalls and livestock housing needs to be kept relatively clean at
all times. If there is a problem, the Chapter Advisor will be warned
by the Fair Manger. If a second warning is required, the Chapter's
premium money for that area will be withheld.
DIVISION 1 -FFA AGRICULTURE MECHANICS

RULES:
1. There will be no double entries by an individual or chapter.
2. Entries will be judged on the basis of workmanship, evidence of sound
planning, number and degree of skills involved, practicality and
agricultural usefulness of the entry.
3. All entries must be student's work and result from the training program
in agriculture mechanics.
4. The judges reserve the right to re-enter entries in Classes in order to
make up more judgeable groups of entries.
5. Judges shall give greater consideration to an item built entirely by the
student rather than a prefabricated item.
6. Entries in Classes 1 through 6 must be mounted on display boards
that may be any size less than 2 feet by 4 feet. Display boards may
represent several student's work. Points from these classes will
have equal value with other similar classes in judging sweepstakes.
Individual items not mounted will not be judged. Boards not meeting
the specifications will be placed below those boards that do.
7. All entries must be removed from equipment and placed in proper class
area to be judged. Example: Pickup bumpers and stock racks.
8. All projects not of quality will not be judged. This will be left to the
discretion of the Agriculture Mechanics Committee, The items must be
removed from the display area.
9. Only major agriculture mechanics projects pertaining to the handling
or producing of crops or livestock or major shop equipment shall be
considered for Champion or Reserve Champion Agriculture Mechanics
Projects.
10. Any entries in the Agriculture Mechanics Class that are found to have
been shown in previous years will disqualify that chapter, for all
premiums, for that year, in the Agriculture Mechanics Show. The
Agriculture Mechanics Committee shall have the responsibility for making
this decision.
